SUMMARY
Provide various Information Technology (IT) services in support of the Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO) for over 4000 customers, including incident and request support; conducting program analysis and studies; developing, operating, and maintaining IT systems and applications; and maintaining vigilance with regard to information assurance. These IT services are deployed either directly or indirectly to support DON CIO customers across the Secretary of the Navy Headquarters within the National Capital Region (NCR) including sites located at the Pentagon, Washington Navy Yard, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Arlington Annex and Crystal City.
DUTIES
Perform O&M activities for existing SQL Server databases and work with upgrading SQL Server to NMCI approved versions
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
HS diploma or GED
DoD 8570 IAT II Certification (Security Certification)
Background Needed and Years of Experience
5 years of experience with configuring and administering database management systems (DBMS)
3 years of experience with configuring and administering Microsoft SQL applications and developing database backup and recovery processes, including migrating SQL Server Databases from 2012 to 2016
Experience with Database Performance Tuning and with setting and maintaining database standards
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must Have Technical Skills
Knowledge of implementing server STIGs and DoD policies in database systems and applications Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012 and Server 2016 Operating Systems Knowledge of database automation using scripting using Powershell or Bash Knowledge of Oracle, 12c, and 19c, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Knowledge of configuring and administering Weblogic and Oracle Access Manager
Non-Technical Skills
Ability to work well with teams. -Good communication skills, written and oral.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes.
Working Conditions
Working Conditions
Government site with possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
The working environment is generally favorable.
Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
