What are the responsibilities of the Sr Data Engineer? Planning and designing new software and web applications. Analyzing, testing, and assisting with the integration of new applications and coordinating the documentation of all development activity.
Where can the Sr. Date Engineer make an impact? Training non-technical personnel and junior Software Development Engineers. Assisting with supervising performance metrics. Integrating knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a sophisticated and crucial environment by providing domain expertise.
Core Responsibilities
Collaborates with project team members to identify technical requirements. Conducts analysis to resolve integration needs.
Supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
Trains junior Engineers on internally developed software applications.
Leads all aspects of the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and mentorship with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
Assists in supervising and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.
Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as vital.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Technical Skills Experience
Hands-on experience with Spark, Kubernetes, SQL, Linux, and Unix shell scripting and in ETL design and development.
Experience in the planning, designing and development of high-volume compute, parallel processing and ETL workflows using Spark, PySpark, and other compute frameworks on Big Data in on-premise or public cloud environments.
Data warehouse development experience on a major RDBMS (Teradata, Oracle, SQL server).
Experience with SQL and query optimization.
Continuous integration/deployment processes and tools such as Concourse, GitHub, Jenkins (optional), CodeDeploy & CodePipeline.
Scripting languages such as Python, VBScript, Perl.
AWS, Databricks, and other cloud technologies.
Fundamental understanding of Big Data compute design patterns and efficient data modeling practices.Approach towards operational efficiencies and sustainability by using best practices and standards.
Optional experience: Teradata, Hadoop, and/or Informatica/SSIS equivalent.
Open to learn new technology as needed.

Pay Range: This job can be performed in Denver Campus, with a Pay Range of $124,648.68 USD - $195,471.79 USD
